AUSL Pitcher of the Series: Keilani Ricketts claims Pitcher of the Series honors after dominant outings for the Blaze. Ricketts came off the Injured List with a vengeance, throwing 5.1 innings against the Volts and allowing only one hit and one earned run. In two appearances with one start, Ricketts recorded eight strikeouts, no walks, and kept her opponent’s batting average to .063. Ricketts is the first Blaze arm to earn Pitcher of the Series.
AUSL Player of the Series: Infielder Ana Gold is named Player of the Series for the first time this season after helping lead the Blaze offensively to two wins over the Volts. It was the team’s first series victory. Gold went 5-for-10 in Seattle, contributing five RBIs. In the win on Sunday, Gold hit an RBI double in the top of the third inning that extended the Blaze’s lead, scoring one. She came back out on Monday and set the tone for the game with a solo shot in the top of the second. Gold also singled twice in the game, scoring runners on both. The rookie also played lockdown defense; she’s spent most of the season on the hot corner but was the starter at shortstop all three games. Gold has a perfect fielding percentage on the season.
