Jala Wright is a 5-foot-8 professional softball pitcher from Charlotte, North Carolina. She was acquired in the 3rd Round of the 2026 Allocation Draft following a collegiate career at Michigan State and Duke.
Personal Life
Family: Daughter of Jocqua Wright and Felicia Morings. Her father played college baseball before playing professionally in the Seattle Mariners organization.
Career: Named assistant softball coach at Duke on August 28, 2025, after spending the 2025 season as a graduate assistant at Tennessee.
College Experience: Michigan State & Duke (2021–2024)
Career Statistics: Logged 109 career appearances with 71 starts, posting a 2.30 career ERA with 449 strikeouts over 420.0 innings. Authored a 2.00 ERA and a 44-12 record in three seasons at Duke.
Senior Year (2024): Boasted a 19-3 record with 189 strikeouts and five shutouts. Led the Blue Devils to their first NCAA Women’s College World Series appearance. Set a school record with 17 strikeouts against Boston College.
Junior Year (2023): Posted a 12-4 record with a 2.51 ERA, ranking eighth in the ACC in strikeouts.
Sophomore Year (2022): Fashioned a 13-5 record with a 2.09 ERA and 115 strikeouts.
