Maddie Penta is a 6-foot-2 professional softball pitcher from Chesapeake City, Maryland. She was acquired in the 2nd Round of the 2026 Allocation Draft following a collegiate career at Auburn.

Personal Life

Family: Daughter of Mark and Susan Penta. Sister, Mariah, plays softball at Maryland, and her mother played softball at the University of Delaware.

Education: Majored in public relations at Auburn.

Background: Has a mini goldendoodle named Goose. Lists meeting Mike Trout as a time where she felt starstruck.

Professional Experience

Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball AUX (2024)

2024 AUX Season: Secured 804 leaderboard points during her first professional season. Made eight appearances in the circle with three starts. Fashioned a 2-1 record with a save, a 3.94 ERA, and 16 strikeouts over 21.1 innings. Earned her first professional win against Team Wiggins on June 11.

College Experience: Auburn (2021–2024)

Career Statistics: Made 141 appearances, including 122 starts. Ended her career as the winningest pitcher in Auburn history with a 76-36 record, 1.79 ERA, and five saves. Second on the Tigers’ all-time list with 941 strikeouts over 706.0 innings. Only pitcher in program history to register three consecutive seasons with 250 or more strikeouts.

Senior Year (2024): Authored a 16-10 record with a 1.90 ERA and 264 strikeouts. Set a school record with 21 strikeouts against UCF in the NCAA Regional. Tossed a six-inning perfect game against Georgia State on February 29, 2024.

Junior Year (2023): Led the SEC and ranked fifth in NCAA Division I with 27 wins. Second in the country with 303 strikeouts. Recorded Auburn’s first no-hitter against an SEC opponent since 2006.

Sophomore Year (2022): Paced the SEC with a 1.76 ERA and secured a league-best 24 victories.

Freshman Year (2021): Tossed six complete games with three shutouts and a 2.78 ERA. Tossed a no-hitter in her college debut.

Awards & Honors

All-America: Consensus All-America honoree as a junior (First-Team in 2023, Third-Team in 2024).

Conference Honors: 2023 SEC Pitcher of the Year. Three-time All-SEC performer.
