Florida State’s Michaela Edenfield will have a new color palette for her signature eye makeup this summer. The catcher signed to compete with the Volts in the inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League.

Edenfield was selected with the eighth overall pick by the Volts at the 2025 College Draft. She was the only catcher of the draft class and just finished an outstanding career with FSU. She has been the Seminoles’ starter behind the dish since her redshirt freshman year and is a three-time All-ACC selection and Third Team NFCA All-American in 2024.

Her experience on the biggest stage in college softball at the Women’s College World Series will be crucial throughout the start of the Volts’ season because she’ll have the opportunity to earn an immediate start. Volts catcher Dejah Mulipola will miss the beginning of the AUSL season as she finishes competing in the Japan Diamond Softball League. This leaves Edenfield and signed reserve athlete Mary Iakopo with the chance to have time in a starting role.

Edenfield brings another powerful bat to an already stacked lineup. She’s coming off of hitting .331 for FSU with 10 home runs and a .630 slugging percentage. Edenfield joined Volts teammate and Seminole alum Jessi Warren as the only other Seminole with 50+ RBIs in three seasons.

The Volts will open the season versus the Blaze on June 7 in Wichita, Kan. Tickets are on sale now.

The AUSL is a professional women’s softball league featuring four teams playing in a traditional format during the regular season.
