LSU infielder Danieca Coffey is officially going pro, signing with the Volts for the inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League after a standout five-year career in Baton Rouge.
Coffey was selected 11th overall in the 2025 AUSL College Draft, alongside a Volts rookie class that includes Oklahoma pitcher Sam Landry and Florida State catcher Michaela Edenfield. She’ll line up alongside veteran infielders Jessi Warren, Kelsey Stewart-Hunter, Sis Bates, Sierra Romero, and Tiare Jennings.
Coffey broke into LSU’s starting lineup in her freshman year. By her sophomore season, she led the team in multiple offensive categories, showing early signs of the consistent producer she would become.
In her junior year, Coffey hit .392 with 76 hits, 47 runs, 29 RBIs, and a .472 OBP, earning NFCA All-South Region and All-SEC honors. She led LSU in hits, on-base percentage, and stolen bases.
She had her most productive season in 2025 as a graduate student, hitting .388 with 69 hits, 55 runs scored, eight stolen bases, and a near-perfect fielding percentage. She earned NFCA Gulf All-Region First Team and All-SEC Second Team honors while anchoring the Tigers’ lineup.
Across five seasons, Coffey proved her worth and finished as a three-time NFCA All-Region pick and multi-year All-SEC performer. The contact ability, speed, and defensive versatility that have marked her collegiate career should make her a valuable asset to the Volts come opening day on June 7.
The AUSL is a professional women’s softball league featuring four teams playing in a traditional format. Tickets to the 2025 season are on sale now.
