Through three games of The World Games 2025 Women’s Softball competition, Team USA remains undefeated. They moved through Group A with ease, past Chinese Taipei, the Netherlands, and now China.
Friday’s 8-1 win over China was highlighted by home runs from the Volts’ Jessi Warren and Bandits’ Skylar Wallace. USA knotted the score at 1-1 with a sac-fly from Talons infielder Hannah Flippen to score Athletes Unlimited Softball League teammate Maya Brady, who reached safely on a walk.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth inning. Tiare Jennings (Volts) and Brady both walked, then Flippen was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Wallace. The Bandits’ leadoff hitter rocketed a shot over the right-field wall to give the USA a lead they would never relinquish.
Jennings tacked on another with a line drive the following inning to extend the lead to 6-1. Warren closed out the game on a run rule with a two-run blast to secure the 8-1 victory.
Team USA will advance to the playoff round and face Japan on Sunday, August 17 at 9 a.m. CST / 8 p.m. CT (Sat.)
