Most of the 2025 AUSL All-Star Cup has been dominated by pitching, but the Saturday night matchup between Team Kilfoyl and Team Flippen was a hit fest. Sami Williams had the decisive swing in the bottom of the sixth, breaking up the tie-breaker with an RBI single to left field, scoring Skylar Wallace.
Team Kilfoyl took an early lead with two runs in the first inning. Reese Atwood drew a walk with the bases loaded to push Aubrey Leach across, and then Delanie Wisz knocked a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Megan Grant to score. They tacked on another in the second; that time it was Leach who singled through the right side to bring Bella Dayton in from third.
Team Flippen immediately answered back in the top of the third. Tiare Jennings drew a walk, Bubba Nickles-Camarena doubled, and Maya Brady also walked to load the bases. With two outs, Morgan Zerkle drove a ball to left field to score three runs. Not only did Jennings score, but Nickles-Camarena and Brady also scored as unearned runs, both reaching safely after bobbled tags at home.
The game remained scoreless until Williams’ clutch hit. She was 2-for-4 on the night and earned MVP 1 honors for her game-winning efforts. Team Kilfoyl secured 50-inning win points in addition to the 70 points for winning the game.
Zerkle’s two hits in the outing took the all-time lead for the most hits in the All-Star Cup. She’s played in the league since its inception in 2020. Lexi Kilfoyl was MVP 3, and Megan Grant was the defensive MVP.
Kilfoyl picked up the win in the circle, entering in the third to relieve Amber Fiser and throwing 4.1 scoreless innings. The combined stat, win, and MVP points shifted her into first place overall on the leaderboard.
She now holds a 148-point lead over Baylee Klingler, who sits in second. The two will face each other on Sunday night in a game that will decide the final spots on the leaderboard.
